I posted on the chat thread, but I know not everyone checks there.

The idea was to pair up with someone whose due date is near yours so that you have a)someone to let us know when you're in labor, b)someone to lean on in the newly post-partum phase (let's face it, there's a big difference between a 2 day old and a one month old!) and c)someone to keep an eye on you. I know I needed someone after my kids were born.

So, if you're interested, just post here with your "due date" and I'll pair everyone up. You can either PM me phone numbers/email addresses (whichever you're more comfortable with) and I'll share them with your partner, or once you're partnered you guys can exchange amongst yourselves. Whatever you decide.

We'll keep the signup open until the end of the day Sunday, 1/31.

I'm interested! My due date is April 20. I'm having a hospital birth with a low-intervention OB.

edit: I should add, this is my first baby, so I probably will have lots of postpartum questions!

edit AGAIN: vvvv Like Ivory, I will probably be updating throughout first stage labor, and I bet you a dollar my husband will keep Facebook updated other times. As long as I don't immediately crash out, I'll probably post on my own Facebook once Cecilia comes. But I still want a DDC buddy to post here for me!!

I'm in. Due around April 7th.

Oh, and I should add that, unless I drop my phone in the pool, I'll probably update my FB/blog throughout labor. I'm weird like that. I updated all through Alice's birth as a distraction. My midwife still makes fun of me for jumping on the computer within an hour after birth to post a picture.

Ivory, partner to Tom, mama to Ella (12/9/05), Alice (12/8/07), and our newest addition, Rebecca (4/1/10).

I am interested and I am due April 22. If this labor is like my last three, it be an overnight, weekend labor, daytime birth within three days of my due date and the baby will be at least 9 lbs. Just for that, this baby will be be the complete opposite: born on a Tuesday at midnight, at 38 weeks after laboring during the day, and will be six pounds.

I recently changed my username, but I still say "Hello" to all those who know me in real life! Hi P, S, T and K!

In!

Due April 28(9?), but not expecting to go until May-ish. Would love to be paired with someone who also doesn't expect to go early.

Well, I posted on the other thread that I don't need a buddy, since I have a good friend who will be at the birth center with me (at least some of the time) who is an MDC mom. But since others are talking about whether they'll be updating facebook/email/twitter etc, I wanted to chime in.

I have this friend who I already know will need constant updates, and will go crazy without them. When my MDC mom friend was in labor he was calling them all the freaking time, and emailing, and even driving me crazy, and I wasn't involved!

So, to preempt that this time, I have made him "communications manager" of my birth. So, although I might do some of my own updates while in labor, I'm leaving the majority of it up to him. I think we're going to start a twitter feed for the birth! And I'll give him my facebook password, too. I may also change my voicemail to say, "Rhi is currently giving the world a new life, and any questions related to her labor should be directed to S at _email address_ and _phone number_". And then turn off my phone. My mom has a droid phone, so she can update him easily. And he works for a cell phone company, and is their google phone expert, so he has to have his phone with him at all times, anyhow, and there is no problem with him posting updates, even from work!

We'll see how it goes, but it seems like the best situation for everyone. My labor people only have to talk to him, and he can talk to everyone else.

I'm near the air base; Irvington/Harrison area. My plan is to labor at home as long as I can, and only go to TMC when it's absolutely necessary, but that's going to take some guessing. I have no idea how I'll labor, so I'll be relying on my sister, who is acting as my doula, to help me decide when it's really time to go.

at the Nemo comment. I thought that too.

I'm also gonna try and pair first time moms with more "seasoned" mamas. Some of us first time mamas set REALLY high standards for ourselves and it's nice to hear that it's okay if you're still in your pajamas and haven't showered in 3 days because you haven't left the couch, as you've been trapped under a sleeping/nursing baby. OR, that it really is okay to use a baby containment device so that you can take a shower alone.

I'll sign up too! I'm not sure if I'll need someone to update for me since we'll be at home and I can just grab the laptop, but in case of emergency and going to the hospital...and of course I would love to update for someone else.

I'm due sometime around 4/24 according to the midwife. 4/22 according to an early ultrasound. DD was born a full week early, so we'll see what happens!

I'm afraid of a car delivery too. I lived on base with dd and got to the birth center trying not to push! They had time to fill the tub (cause i just can't get comfy and the only place i'm moving was the tub!) and i got in and pushed. watch out for the speed bumps....seriously both of you tell your drivers explicitely that those speed bumps should be taken literally at half a mile an hour. i do live about half an hour away now as well.

cece's mom~ are you delivering WITH the midwives at tmc? cause if your just going to go with an OB instead I *think* from what i've heard tmc isn't going to be the greatest. however if your trying to stick with the mw then of course that's the only option.

i am due April 3. ds was 11 days over due, dd was exactly on time. boys usually take longer but so do firsts....i'm 85% positive that the first week of april is go time.

would either of you ladies want to do something together? i've never seen someone else in labor and am kinda curious. i still need to find someone to watch my kids but i also want someone to take lots of pictures and videos of this birth. i never can get any!

I'm due April 17 but I seem to get later and later with each one. The last one was two weeks late, so I'm thinking closer to May 1.

Danielle, I have no choice but to go with an OB. I have diabetes and hypertension; I risked out of a midwife birth. My OB's cool, though, and is on board with my natural, drug-free birth. I'm still disappointed I can't have a birth center or a home birth, but I will make the best of what I have. My sister is my doula and she will advocate pretty hard for me!
