Does anyone else stink like this? I'm showering EVERY DAY and changing my underwear (promise!) and still my nether regions smell like a port-o-john!

I'm going to try rotating pantyliners tomorrow to see if that helps. This has to be hormones right? Crazy preggo hormones?

Last time this didn't happen until 25 weeks or so, but it only stunk then when I got sweaty.

Maybe I'll try trimming the hedge. Do you think bacteria could be lurking in there that washing isn't getting out?

Gross, gross gross!

Sarah. Married to my Mirus, raising my DD1 (Aug. '09) and my DD2 (March '11) and waiting for my newest (April '14)!

Try trimming/shaving, that might help. It's okay, we've all been there.

You could have a mild yeast infection.

I have started using washable pantyliners. They are all cotton and don't have the plastic backing on them. They really seem to help keep things dry and cool down there. They are so much more comfortable now that it is 105 degrees where I live. I found them pretty cheap on ebay. Luna pads is a website that sells them as well but they were WAY more expensive!

this was totally me last time around, i'm hoping it doesn't happen again. i think that the hormones have a lot to do with it. i think i decided that my sweat was just really pungent during pregnancy, and that area doesn't get a chance to air out during the day. i was bringing a spare set of undies with me to work and that seemed to help. you might try carrying some travel wipes with you too. wouldn't hurt to rule out a yeast infection, but pregnancy was definitely the culprit for me.

Could it be BV? That causes funky smells but not really any other symptoms.

It could also be ureaplasma. BV often accompanies ureaplasma. I would just get it checked out next time you have an appointment to be sure. Undiagnosed ureaplasma and/or bacterial vaginosis (BV) contributes to pre-term labor. I had "pre-term type labor/irritable cervix" even in my first trimester with my 3rd pregnancy.

I have chronic ureaplasma infections, so understand the feeling of foul smelling undies...it is not fun...and since with pregnancy I am peeing more frequently and having my strong preggo nose...the smell is particularly bothersome to me.

It definitely would be a great idea to go to all cotton liners and cotton undies. Sorry that you have to deal with this. Just know that you are not alone.

DDCC

I agree with others that this is often caused by an infection so I'd ask your mw to test. I'd also do some underwear free time. Wear a skirt and no panties around the house so your body can "breath" and air out. Also, does your partner share this idea that your crotch smells....funky? Our sense of smell in pregnancy can be partially to blame and it may not really be as bad as it seems to you.

I agree with checking in with your mw to make sure all is well, if so, maybe some landscaping would help, and also, sex! Baby-batter can really do some beneficial neutralizing

Here's a little magic for that:

Worked great for me when I had this issue in my last pregnancy. Checking out a possible infection is a good idea too.
