So, how do ya make your own cross-stitch patterns? I've seen references to printing your own out ... I'd like to try it but how do ya do it? Do you have recommendations for things to look for in designs which may make it ridiculously difficult or a little easier?

I'm not sure if this is the kind of suggestion you're looking for, but there is a software program called PC Stitch you can use to design patterns. I'm sure there are other similar programs, but this is the one I have. You can go freehand or import pictures/images that the program translates into a pattern. Pretty fun to fool around with.
