I bought some pellon today at the fabric store to make felt-board characters (it's see-through so you can trace pictures right on it). I traced in a fine-point sharpi, which seemed to dry permanently. But then I colored the pictures in with regular crayola markers and the ink just seems to be sitting on the surface. Do I need to only use permanent markers on pellon since it's a poly/synthetic material? Has anyone else ever used pellon for a similar craft and have any suggestions? I like the idea of using it because it's relatively cheap ($3/yard) and like I said, transparent enough to trace your pictures. But I want more than black-line pictures. Hmm ... any ideas?

I've used fabric paints to paint pictures on interfacing before. The line of fabric paint I have is discontinued, but is is a waterbased paint.

I bet the rainbow set of sharpies would work too.

Thanks for the idea of fabric paint ... hadn't thought of that. I went ahead and bought the raibow of Sharpies ... it was actually just a good excuse to buy them as I'd been eye-balling them for some time. :LOL And they were on sale at Staples ... only $10 for the big pack! So, I've been coloring away.
