We start our 10 month old dd off in her crib for the first part of the night and then move her into our bed around 1:00 - 2:00am. She naps in her crib also. She does really well this way and actually seems to prefer sleeping in her crib because she sleeps on her tummy there (she nurses and sleeps on her back in bed with us). The past couple days she has rediscovered rolling over though and will not stay on her tummy. She will immediately roll over, sit up and smile/laugh because she is so proud of this new discovery. She knows how to lay back on her back to sleep, but won't do that, she will basically fall asleep hunched over her legs sitting up. Sometimes I can move her into the tummy position but sometimes I think she has been like this for awhile when I go in to check on her. I mainly just feel like this isn't a good position for her. The rolling over is also seriously affecting her naps - she just won't lie down and eventually starts crying and doesn't go to sleep. Has anyone else's LO gone through a stage like this? I'm hoping she gets over this soon! She's been sitting up for months now but was never big on rolling over - she did it a few times when she was younger, but not much. Do you think this is just excitement over a "new" skill?

Oh my, yes. My DS learned how to roll over at 8 months and from then on, will not stay down in bed - even though I can tell he is tired. He crawls all over the bed all hours of the night - and he is 10 months now so this has been happening for 2 months.

At first, I thought it was excitement over a new skill. Now I think I am coming to realize that Ds has always fought sleep and this is just his new way of doing it, now that he can roll over.

Hope you get some good advice, but I just wanted to let you know that Im in the same boat!

Crazy! I have a 9 month old who is doing similar thing. She has figured out that she can get up and sit back on her heels. So just when you think she's going to fall asleep, she rolls over and sits up on her heels, smiling away and rubbing her eyes b/c she's tired!

Sometimes at night she does the same as yours, sleeping hunched over on her knees. I think this is her position when she has gas pains in the belly. Seems to facilitate the toots while she sleeps.
Let us all keep our fingers crossed that it IS just a stage (which I guess mostly everything is.. just a question of how looong it lasts!)
