I haven't purchased socks in a while, and it's getting kind of dire. In the past couple years every store around me has stopped carrying 100% cotton socks. I tried some that were something like 85% cotton, and they made my feet so hot and sweaty and uncomfortable -- gross! I've been looking online and I don't see many 100% cotton socks available. Am I mistaken, have I been buying 96% cotton 4% spandex or something all these years without realizing it?

Please hit me with your favorite socks (for mama and kids). I prefer not to spend a fortune on them, especially for the kids.

A couple of years ago someone gave me a couple of pairs of smartwool socks for Christmas, and I cannot wear cotton socks anymore, cotton feels clammy. I live in New England, and we have an llbean outlet nearby where we can get them discounted, and sometimes on sale. I pick up one or two when they are cheap enough. They are pricey, though, even when they are "cheap". I encourage you to just try one pair. I swear, the first few weeks I wore them, I just walked around smiling stupidly because of my socks.

Thank you for your response. I have had several pairs of Smartwool socks. If I wear them with shoes my feet get too hot, except when it's very cold outside. I need cotton for when it's not the dead of winter. Also, my skin is sensitive, and I get itchy in wool if I get too warm while wearing it. Bummer for me.

I see that your question is really old, but if you are still looking, I have a couple of answers for you. Dr. Leonard's and Carol Wright both sell Buster Brown 100% cotton socks. Also Starcrest of California sells 100% cotton socks that look and feel exactly the same, but they are are little cheaper. I buy these in white only from any of these, and these are the ONLY socks I wear.
