I've got an "early result" type test laying around (detects >10 mIU) and it's calling my name... I'm now at 8 DPO, so I'm trying to be strong and wait at least another week or so, but I don't know how much longer I can last. Would 12 DPO be too early?

I've got PCOS and hardly ever ovulate (this is the second time all year), so I'm really nervous about this, even though I keep telling myself not to get my hopes up. But what an awesome Christmas present this would be for DH and me... :

I got a pretty strong BFP on day 13 with DD. At that time my normal luteal phases were 10/11 days (just coming off the pill, now they are 14 days). So, I don't think that 12 days is necessarily too early, I was also feeling symptoms (light headed/dizzyness at about 7 days PO, then frequent urination 13 days PO, hence the POAS, I had to use all that urine for something!)

Good luck.

I've always gotten a positive result by 12dpo. However my LP is 12 or 13 days so that is when my period would be due anyway so not really early testing.

Hmmm... I'm not sure I can say how long my LP "usually" is with any accuracy, since I've only ovulated twice since I started charting last year. Last time it was 18 days, though, so 12 DPO is honestly probably a little early. If my LP is of a similar length this time, I'm not even halfway done yet. I hate the tww!!! How do the rest of you get through this every month?

it tests under 10? That is a good one, not seen those before.

If you only have one then save it, if you don't find running out to etos or wherever and spending more euros then POAS every day till AF comes LOL

With DD I got a very faint BFP at 12 DPO, and my usual luteal phase was about 14 days. Now, my luteal phase is between 15 and 18 days, and all my tests this month have been negative. I'm 12 DPO now, and having slight nausea and gas and not feeling pre-AF, but we'll see.

It's a Dutch test called "Mat Care Ultra" and it supposedly tests 10 or greater. I'm not 100% sure, since I stuffed them in my sock drawer as soon as I got them and forbade myself to look at them, so I haven't read the package insert yet. I ordered them online from the manufacturer's website (just google the name and you'll find it) for around €10 for two tests. Arrived in the mailbox the next day.

how many of the tests do you have? if you only have one, i'd wait until 14 dpo, at least. but if you have a couple, you can test on 12 dpo to get the POAS bug out of your system for a bit and again a few days later.

i usually have 3-4 tests and i can rarely wait past 8 dpo, but then i wait a few days and use up the rest until my period arrives. every month. over and over and over again.

this month, i am determined to not buy any tests until i have a real reason to (late period or very convincing symptoms).

I've got two of them, so I think I'll test around 12 or 13 dpo and save the other one for later like you suggested. I'd kinda hate to waste a test since they're about €5 apiece, but then again, the whole reason I got the extra-sensitive tests in the first place was to be able to test early!

Maybe I should just get some internet cheapies so I don't have to feel guilty about how much money my impatience is costing me.

Sometimes I feel as though I'm keeping the pg test industry in business all on my own
