We have been ECing since 8 months. He is bare or in undies/cotton trainers at home as well as at night ( has been dry for a week). He is not walking yet but, crawling. I or my hubby always pee or poo him while holding him over the toilet. Should I wait til' he starts walking to buy him a potty? When I do, do I sit him to pee or should he stand? What do you all w/ boys do?

I sit my baby on the toilet sometimes, sometimes sit him on the little potty, and sometimes hold him over the toilet or tub. My older son learned to stand and pee in the toilet when he got tall enough. In some public bathrooms though he had to stand on my feet to be tall enough, even after he was tall enough at home if you kwim.

my ds is only 8 months, ec'd from 6. he has always used a bblp. he refused to let me hold him over the toilet, sink, etc. he fits really well on the bblp - his feet touch the floor, and he is low enough he can reach down to pick up whatever toy he has dropped.

i am at an akward stage with the bblp that pee keeps shooting out, but others tell me this is just an odd phase.

I did the sign for "toilet" yesterday to him and he turned his back to me and crawled right over to a puddle of pee he did on the floor and wiped both his hands in it. I was SO HAPPY he understood me I didn't care a bit about the mess!
