Our 14 mos DS enjoyed eatting from around 6-11 months...Not a lot of food, but some. He has not eatten at all for the past two months. We have offered him EVERYTHING...from mushy to finger foods...from the high chair, to placing it low to the floor where he could serve himself...no interest in food whatsoever. Also, he still wakes up frequently throughout the night and is a very early riser. DH and I have been patient, but after 14 months straight, it has become very wearing...Could the lack of solids be related? Are there any thoughts or suggestions?

We're in a similar boat. My mom says just to wait and as they get more solids and get walking they will start sleeping more. She also said that it is kind of sad when they start sleeping through the night. I'm not sure about that, but I'm waiting. DD2 just started walking really well and the other 2 are taking some steps so we'll see if she is right.

For me, I didn't find my DD's nightwaking related to how much solids she took in. I found kind of the opposite--the more solids she ate when she was younger, the more tummy problems she would have at night and the more she would wake. And I also didn't see much increase in her food intake during the day after she first nightweaned and then weaned completely (that really surprised me).

But, I did see a huge improvement in nightwaking as soon as her first molars came in (around 15-16 months). And then another improvement around 18 months, when she became more aware and could tell me what she needed in the night (and she could understand "mama just needs a little more sleep now...")

I've so BTDT

My ds was very similar, and still most days eats very lightly. I noticed that often when he ate very little (to worry me) he was teething. He also didn't start sleeping completely through the night until a few weeks ago (he's 26 mos). Just keep an eye on him, keep offering him different foods, supplement when you need (smoothies, etc) and just make sure that he is healthy. The rest definitely does fall in to place.

Don't hold your breath. Sorry. My DS is 14mos. He has been walking since 9.5mos. e eats solids. Sometimes a lot. Sometimes not. Well...he still wakes up every 2-3hrs at night. Sometimes he will go 4 or more, but not often. I don't think it is related to solid intake or walking.

What do you do when he wakes up at night? How long does he stay up? How many naps does he take during the day? The last question I ask because my near 15 month old has dropped an impressive 2 hours out of the time she needs to sleep in a 24 hour period. She used to sleep 12 hours a night + 2 hour nap. Now it is 10 hour nights + 1-2 hour nap. Maybe your son just needs less sleep now?
