I just came back from my midwife apt. I gained 14lbs since last month!!!!! I didn't even know that was possible! The apt before that I only gained 1lb. Very strange! I started out at 100lbs pre-preg, and I'm up to 129. And I guess I'm considered under-weight, so I should gain closer to 40 lbs total. My midwife was shocked, but she said as long as I'm feeling ok then everything is good to go! My glucose results came back, I'm at 123, so thats fabulous! But of course, the downside is that I'm anemic. Yesterday I really thought I was too. I've been tired and lazy feeling lately. So on top of my 2 flinstone vitamins a day I have to take a iron pill and eat a bowl of Total cereal. That's doable. Thanks for listening to me ramble!!

Wow, glad you are feeling goo and your mw isn't concerned about anything. If I were you I'd go out and buy some floridex much better than the iron sup. I know lots of mama on our ddc have tried it and it works great!

That's how I gained weight with my last pregnancy. Everything was textbook with regards to weight gain and then I hit my 3rd trimester and BLAM I gained like crazy!

This time I'm not sure what's going to happen. During my last prenatal my midwives said I needed to gain more weight but that was before they weighed me. After they weighed me they didn't mention it again LOL.

Oh and read the "Low Iron" thread for lots of ideas on how to bring it up.

Everybody gains weight differently.. I typically have a steady progression with one or two months of big increases like that. I'm glad your mw isn't making a big deal out of it.. I stressed all last month because of the nine pounds I had gained. With all the changes the baby is going through and all of that it's normal to have an increase. As for the low iron that's also very very common this time in pregnancy.. in my previous pregnancies I always had to take iron around this time. I've heard nothing but good things about Floradix so I would definitely look into that and like Rachel said there's lots of good ideas in the low iron thread.

I found out yesterday at my appt that I gained 5lbs in the past 2 weeks- yikes! That brings me to approx 33 lbs so far for this pg; I gained about 40 total with DS. This time I started a little bit underweight, but still, I can't keep up this rate!!! I've been very lenient about what I've been eating lately (got in the the habit when I lost a ton of weight nursing DS and couldn't gain weight no matter what I did). Time for me to start cutting the whipped cream from my Starbucks (I'm addicted to their "Vanilla Creme": milk, vanilla, and whipped cream!) and switching to skim, for starters! Sounds like you haven't gained that much overall yet, so maybe your body/baby's body is having a growth spurt this month??

I guess if you're underweight and otherwise healthy, it should be something to celebrate! Just keep eating healthy and growing that babe...

I've had a similar thing happen with both pregnancies. I gained an average of a pound to 2 pounds a month until the seventh month and then--POW!--7 pounds in one month. I just had an appt. last week and I was shocked. I mean, I am starting to feel huge, so I guess that explains it, but still! :

I do the same thing - a pound, then two, then four, this month it was eight! Just trying to stay active and eat healthy until the baby gets here. I think my body must pack on the pounds late for the baby

Wow, 14 lbs in a month is a LOT. Good for you though considering you were underweight.

I don't even want to know how much I weigh, so I don't.

My midwives looked at the dumb food journal they made me keep and they said I'm not eating enough, or enough fat. Jeez. I'm not exactly skinny, but I'm not trying to diet, it's just how we eat! They said that doesn't matter and said whole milk foods, avocado, etc needs to be added to my diet.
