My 15 month old has started doing something that looks likes he has a chill or the shivers several times a day. His whole upper body just twitches a little bit; people have even made comments like "oh he has the chills". He is teething, with some drooling and tooth pain, but aside from that his health is fine. I have checked his temp several times a day and he never has a temp. We have his 15-month appointment with the pediatrician next week - but I was just wondering if I should be concerned about this?? Has anyone else experienced or seen anything like this? I am a first time Mom, so maybe it is normal but I am just not so sure.

It's hard to really say without seeing him do it. Is he totally alert when it's happening? Does he seem to go back to his regular activities after it? What are his eyes doing? It *could* be seizure activity or something neurological, it's hard to really know. If it were me, if it kept happening I'd try to catch it on video and bring it in to show the ped. Although a lot of peds don't recognize seizure activity in young children so if it's something that keeps going on or you notice any other things beginning I'd get in to see a pediatric neurologist. My son did this ... we finally figured it out. Wanna know what it was??? He did it after he finished peeing. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/lol.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="lol"><br><br>

He is totally fine when it happens and seems not to even notice it, he does not even stop what he is doing when it happens. His eyes are normal, no glazed look or loss of focus.<br><br><div style="margin:20px;margin-top:5px;">

I will really laugh if this is what it turns out to be. I think it may be happening too often to be correlated to wet diapers, but I am going to watch for it! Yeah, my kids did that when they peed but you said it happens very frequently so unless he's really going A LOT it probably wouldn't correlate! <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/orngbiggrin.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="orange big grin">

2 of my kids did this, as did I (still do sometimes) I would check on the wet diapers. My kids did it before and after so you would sometimes see it several times in the course of a few minutes.
