Hi mamas,
My 16 mo old ds has never really slowed down his nursing. He didn't really eat until 12-13 moths and is just now eating more. The past few weeks I feel a sharp pain for a moment when he latches on most times. Anyone else have anything like this happen and/or know if there is anything I can do about it? He is getting all 4 bicuspids and molars in at the same time right now. And, no, I'm not pregnant.
Thanks for any advice!

OOOOO!!! I am willing to bet his latch is off because of all his teeth coming in! It seemed like each time DS got a new tooth, his latch would be off for a few days until he got used to it being there. One thing you can try is going back to basics, unlatch him and ask him to open his mouth really wide. That should take some of the pressure off your nipple. Hope it helps!

funny i also have a 16 month old and it feels like a bite when he latches on. he had has all of his teeth for a month or two now and he is still latching on this way so im not sure that it has to do with his teeth. it almost feels like he is sucking the nipple into his mouth threw his teeth rather than putting the nipple in his mouth and then sucking. sort of like he sees the nipple as a sippycup spout or a straw atfirst
