My God, this breaks my heart: My neighbor's son has leukemia, and has been diagnosed with this since he was 9 months old. The docs say that he will survive. But the trauma that they are going through is mind blowing. The past month has brought this darling boy a broken arm and the roto/a virus. Tonight they were just informed that she would have to STOP breastfeeding because his body can't break down the active enzyme in her milk!!!!???? his stools have been blood...i know as a LLL leader applicant that lactose intolerancy rarely if ever applies to mamas and babies...what the hell? has anyone ever heard of this? She seems to think that it will be temporary. Mama's milk has been this babes' saving grace. Does anyone have any experience with babies and leukemia? Is there someone out there that I could get her in contact with? She is too exhausted, and is hanging on by the same thread that her sweet baby boy is...help.
