My belly button has been sore for the past few days. It isn't protruding or anything. This is my first pregnancy, so I've never experienced anything like this. Is this normal?

TIA

Totally. It may eventually go numb.

Ok, thanks. I won't worry about it anymore.

I have not experienced this myself but a client of mine just recently told me that this happens to her every pregnancy. She eventually starts putting a bandaid over hers it got so sensitive. Her's did protrude though. I will ask her if anything else helped when I see her again!

This happens to me -- even down to the band-aid routine! Mine does not protrude, but it stretches totally flat and is very painful and sensitive. (My only stretch marks are at the margins of my belly button!) Nothing really helped it beyond trying to keep it covered. I also kept it really mosturized, which may have helped some. I prefer full-panel maternity pants (once I get large) to minimize the rubbing of my shirt against my belly button.

It's nothing to worry about, but it's no fun. My second pregnancy was the worst in this regard -- that's when I got my stretch marks. I'm either 20 or 21 weeks right now (can't remember! ) and my belly button is far from flat yet, thank goodness. I'm *hoping* that the super stretching of my second pg will make this one a little easier. If you find a wonder cream or something, let me know!

with my first i had this horrid pain around my belly button area, not the button itself but the area around it. i forget what it was called, but basically it was an irriated nerve, and eventually became numb. i THINK that the babe was compressing a nerve or something like that and the nerve ends at the belly. something like that.

never happened after my first pregnancy though.

I've never had the belly button pain. My belly button just sticks all out. So funny looking. I had a separation of my abdominal muscles with DD and it never closed completely so my silly belly button started to stick out right away.
