So this is my first day. A dear MDC mamma is in the process of sending me some CD. I was down to my last 2 disposables, so yesterday I went to a local kids store and bought some gerber CD, not at all absorbant. So I know I will have to change DS often.

My question to you ladies is, once I receive the real supply of CD, how do I know when to change him? How many CD should I bring on a day out? What sort of bag should I pack for his wet/soiled CD? Etc, etc, any info will be GREATLY appreciated. TIA

The first day cloth diapering is so much fun. Everything is still exciting. I'm sure even Gerber prefolds would be fun in a pinch.

I change my boys when the front of the diaper feels wet. Sometimes they go longer if they're playing and don't want to be changed. Every two hours is a good average probably. Some more frequently, some less frequently.

So pack your diaper bag according to how many hours you plan to be out. If you have really absorbent diapers, you probably won't need to change as often. You can use a plastic grocery store bag for the dirties, or you can use a cloth wet bag. I just bought a couple of the small sized bummis wet bags, but there are some very pretty wet bags that you can get online.

Thanks so much, I've waited all day for a reply. I'll check out the wet bags.
