I think that instead of letting this day just pass me by as just another day in pregnancy, I'm going to celebrate it

Some people say it's the start of week 12. Some people say it's the completion of 12 weeks, meaning the start of week 13.

We're going by the first one.

Thanks for all the responces!

So here's what we ended up doing. When my dh came home at 12:30pm I ushered him and dd into the car and drove to a big park in the next town over. We had a picnic lunch, then went swimming in the river/pool (it's a damned off cement pool with the river running slowly through it, not to sure how else to explain it). Then we walked further down the trail to the big park and dd had a blast playing for a while. Then we went to Old Navy and they had a bunch of stuff for dd on clearence. I got her 5 shirt, a zip up sweater and a pair of capris for $25. I also got myself some more gaucho(sp?) pants and a tank top. Then we went to Target and browsed around, but only ended up with socks for dd.

Then we went home and dd and I napped, then dh cooked us a wonderful dinner. It was really nice. I feel happy and celebrated

I know to a lot of people that the estimated time for each trimester doesn't mean a lot, but I just want to take every chance I can to celebrate this pg and myself

Rae,

It is up to you. Many women start to feel better around 12 weeks and consider themselves starting their 2nd trimester then.

But the medical definition of when the second trimester starts is 13 weeks. Third trimester starts at 27 weeks (so approx 13 weeks for the 1st and 3rd trimesters and 14 weeks for the 2nd = 40 weeks of pregnancy)

thanks yonit. i'll stick with saturday so. it's even more fun here in france because they don't count from your last menstrual period, they decide when you conceived and that's the start date. so in france i'm 9 weeks! the due date is generally farther out as well, so i don't think there are as many inductions.

Sarah what a cool idea, and it sounds like you had a wonderful day! I don't know if my dh will be off work the day I move into my 2nd trimester but I'm definitely going to steal your idea and celebrate. I won't celebrate mine until the 13th week, though, just in case...I'm still really nervous and probably will be until I make it past then.
