I'm 17+ months postpartum with kid #2 and just this past Saturday got my first AF (boo!) I haven't had one in over 4 years because I conceived my daughter on my first PP ovulation after having my son. Anyhow, last December I had a Paragard IUD put in. Also, with my daughter I have had some mild POP (cystocele) that is generally asymptomatic since I finished my physical therapy. I'm burning through tampons like I've never seen, though - about one every 2 hours - and they keep threatening to work their way out, which is annoying.

Anyway, two questions for anyone who may have experience with this:
1. Is my period especially heavy because I haven't had one in so long? Or because of the IUD? Is this likely to be "the new me" or will this get better??
2. Any prolapse sufferers - have you found any tampon-alternatives that stay in better or am I doomed to run to the restroom to shove things back in place every hour or two?

TIA - karen

My first AF after #1 made me so sick! Now 2nd is almost the same. Heavy and crampy everything you can think of. SO I hope that helps
