Paddy has been really out of it lately. He never-I mean *never* has tantrums about things, now this week he's been very whiny, clingy, throwing tantrums, not making sense about what he wants, its very frustrating. He is getting over a sinus infection. He spiked a 103 fever on Tuesday and I got him into the ped right away. I had tried for a month to let that "runny nose" go away on its own but it refused, and he really got sick, so I had to get him antibiotics. He just started eating again today, before that he would only take milk. I don't know if its just being sick that's gotten to him or if its something else. He has been very sleepy, spends a large part of the day laying on the couch with his pillow, asking to go "night night" for his naps early. I guess I'm just worried because this is just not Paddy. He whined through an entire episode of Mr Rogers Neighborhood today because he only wanted to see the trolley. He was happy for the two seconds the trolley is on, the rest of the time he cried about it going away. Maybe this is "terrible twos" showing up finally?

I don't think so??? I thought he had all his teeth already. He has been sticking his fingers in his mouth and sucking on them, which I thought was strange.

Sounds like he just doesn't feel well. I had a mild cold that hung on for 3 weeks. I never had a fever and I never lost my appetite and I felt crappy and then as I got to feeling better I was frustrated at how little energy I had. I can sympathize with this poor little guy.

Your son sounds like he was sicker than I was. His body needs nutrition, but he's been too sick to eat, and he's probably just plain worn out. What he needs most are hugs and love and patience from his mama. If you're feeling overwhelmed being on the outside of his sick body, think how he must feel being inside it.

He was really sick. Today he is much better though, and he ate a little more too. I think some of his problem was an upset tummy from the abx and not having food in his stomach. I'm actually glad he rested as much as he did. When his 19 month old brother gets sick he just screams and cries and doesn't rest at all. I had the same sinus infection and lost my taste buds, so eating was miserable for me for two weeks-that could have been his problem too. I'm so glad he's better today. Thanks for the replies
