Ok Mamas,

I'm at my wits end with my 2.5 year old. Maybe I'm expecting too much from her. She keeps waking up at 5:30/5:45 in the morning!

She goes to bed around 8p and takes about a 1.5 hour nap. I have tried everything I can think of to adjust her wake up time and nothing is working. She seems over tired all the time and has melt downs that go beyond 'the average 2-year old". I know she's tired but I'm stuck!

Maybe the nap hurts more than it helps? Mine dropped the nap before that age, then slept beautifully from 8 to 8 once he got adjusted to the new schedule.

What time is her nap? Have you tried adjusting bedtime (both forwards and backwards)?

With my little guy we wound up having to resign ourselves to the fact that he is an early bird. Nothing we've tried has worked to get him to sleep past 6. Some days he doesn't even make it TO 6. And he doesn't get a nap but rarely. Going to bed earlier (so we're not dead at that hour) and teaching him to play "quietly" in his room while mommy or daddy catches a few more Zs on the couch have helped.

some kids just wake up early and there is little you can do. If you look closely you might find out it averages out over a week.

I'd consider tinkering with the nap. We just did away with it and it is much better. Better sleep at night all around.
