Back with more questions!

1) Do covers like Bummis SWW, Proraps, etc. need to be washed before using? I know you need to wash pocket dipes with PUL to "seal the seams", but I'm assuming that's because they're part fleece?

2) When washed, are covers like this dried in the dryer, or air-dried?

3) I have/am getting a bunch of bulkier NB fitteds (mutts, kissaluvs) and I'm registered for BSWWs to go over them. Should I get the NB size BSWW to fit over the fitteds or the small size. I expect babe to be 6.5-7.5 pounds (although she could always surprise me!), based on family history.

Thanks, as always!

I don't pre-wash covers but I'm lazy. There is no functional need to unless you like to. I don't prewash fuzzi bunz either and i've never had problems.

I dry all my covers except wool.

I think the small BSWW fit better but lots of people like the nb ones. Keep in mind they won't fit for long!

I would pre-wash the covers - I had a brand-new Prorap cover that I put on my 2 year old without washing first and he had horrible red marks all over at his next change...it was just too stiff, or something. After washing it seemed to "soften up" a bit and has not been a problem.
I was planning on using Kissaluvs 0s with a newborn and had asked a WAHM what size Bummis SWW to go with - she recommended the newborn, even if it would only fit for the first few weeks, just because the small would have the baby swimming. I actually have a size small Bummis SWW on hand and it is quite big compared to a newborn cover (Prorap) or the Kissaluv 0s.

Rebecca did she say what sizes that is? my first son was 9lbs 10oz and I'm expecting ds2 to be around that as well and I was planning on skipping the NB size. just curious
