My daughter has complained of "diaper rash" for weeks now. i always check her but find no "diaper rash". she insists on cream so i indulge her. all along i have thought she was jelouse of her baby sisters and just wanted to be like them. today in the shower she was washing herself with some baby soap and was telling me "ow, it hurts, my diaper rash. i used to much soap" i made her lay down so i could look which is a battle. her vagina isnt read on first glance but inside it is definately red. i dont know what it is. maybe yeast infection. i figured it wouldnt hurt to treat her naturally for one just in case. i know what i do for me but what can i do for her. and what kind of ointment should i use on her labia area??

I dont want to take her the doctor because if she wont open her legs for me i know she wont for anyone else. I had similar problems in that area when i was little due to allergies to soaps so i am usually very carefull about not having any soap in her baths when she plays and washing her at the end in the shower.

any suggestions?

If it hurts when she urinates I would suspect a UTI. Is there any way you can collect a urine sample from her?

I agree..rule out a UTI.

But I have had experience with this with Kaya. She complained for a while before I realized that she had a yeast infection. I started putting this Little Forest or Little Tree Diaper powder on that had all natural ingredients one of which was tea tree oil in it. I still have some left. Let me know if you want the company info. It worked for yeast....it helped clear the outer irritation overnight but I continued to apply it for weeks every night and during the day if needed.

For the inside infection, I gave her yogurt and Baby Acidolphilus (from health food store, refrigerated section) and it cleared up pretty quickly.

No reoccurence since

Little Forest Therapeutic Diaper Powder

They have since changed the packaging. Mine is a short wide container. I checked out a few sites and this one has the best price but I do not know shipping costs. Its a little more than say Johnsons and Johnsons powder, but it works so it's worth it.

They do not list tea tree oil as an ingredient but all the other sites did list it and it was the same exact label in all the pictures so I am sure it's in it. Tha'ts what really gets the yeast away.

here is the link
http://babytree.com/daily_botanicals_baby_powder_4.html

Good Luck! I hope it works for her and I also hope she does not have a UTI....although yeast is just as much a pia

ps: once a UTI or anything else serious is ruled out....you can also get sterile syringes...ask the ped....ask for the ones without the needles...I used the syringes leftover from Kaya's hospital stay. I had used them to adminster medicine.

Anyways..you get PLAIN organic yogurt and fill the syringe and if you feel comfortable you can insert it in her vagina (under an inch of course) to get the probiotics directly in contact with the yeast in there. I did this to Kaya and she was smaller and hardly noticed so I did not feel uncomfortable.

GL!

and also try to limit sugars and refined flours...yeast like um!
