I have made my 20 week u/s appt. . .so on May 12 we hope to know the gender of this LO. . .and see the cute fingers and toes and wiggling around again!

After a round of calls to the office and then to the insurance to make sure it would be covered (its never simple!), we got the appt and I am really excited. I think I'll be more excited when I finally feel this baby move, but still finding out the gender (hopefully--please co-operate baby!) will be a great step. For me at least, I feel like it will really help me bond. And it will be fun to know what kinds of clothes to buy (since finding gender neutral clothes is almost impossible anyway) and what names to argue about
.

When do other mamas have their gender u/s scheduled?

we are on same schedule - with same EDD.

my 16wk is next week, and my 20wk will probably get scheduled for May 11th. i am SO ANTSY to know. I could bump that date up to 18wks (they said)...but I don't know, I'm feeling like maybe I need to be patient.

i'd rather know at 20wks that it will be a sure thing - i think.

but man the time couldn't go by any slower!!! what do you think you're having?

exciting!! you will have to report back after!

and i agree about the gender neutral clothing...i never thought it would be so difficult! i guess b/c the majority of people find out what they are having and so the clothes really seem to reflect this!

Yah, I decided to wait till the official 20th week. Especially since this will be our last u/s (assuming everything goes normally), I thought I would spread out the excitement. We had a u/s at 12 weeks and although I don't want to expose the LO to much of this, it was so amazing to see it wiggling around! Can't wait to see it again. It is possible that even waiting till week 20 they could not be able to tell the gender--if the baby refuses to get in the right position
, but I'm hoping to find out.

We are convinced its a girl. . .so it may take some mental adjustment if we are wrong. I did have a dream two nights ago about nursing a little boy, so that made me wonder. But hopefully, it will just be one of the two and healthy!

I'm waiting until 22 weeks for the big 2nd tri u/s.... though we do not want to find out the gender ----- I'll actually be disappointed if we accidently do.

A little off topic but does your insurance cover the whole thing? I had an u/s at around 10 weeks due to spotting earlier in pregnancy (and to confirm dates b/c according to lmp it's an August baby -- but I knew when my thermometer broke, so it was only a short window of when we could have conceived). Our insurance covered most of it, but not all still had to pay $200 out of pocket, also had to pay $50 out of pocket for the doctor at the hospital (u/s place) to read the u/s and send results to the midwife. Ridiculous! I'm not looking forward to paying more for this u/s -- which they're doing to confirm placental location (due to my two earlier spotting/bleeding episodes) and to check anatomy.

I have my ultrasound tomorrow. I will be 18weeks 1day. I am not sure why they wanted to schedule earlier than 20 weeks..but I am one who's hoping to find out the sex, and I hope it's clear! I would hate for them to tell me, and then be wrong! So at this time tomorrow, I am hoping to be able to say pink or blue!

my first and probably only u/s is next week 4/15 ! (tax day and my brothers birthday)

i am so excited. we are not finding out the gender because everyone is adamant that i will want to be surprised, but i kinda want to know.
i might ask for it to be written down so i can open that envelope alone if i want to. i agree that it might help me to bond with my baby more.

i will be 18 weeks.

cool! I'm so jealous. I'm going in for an appt. tomorrow, so I guess it *might* be scheduled then. I haven't been feeling any kicks or anything... so I want *something* to happen with the baby!

Mine's scheduled for May 6th, I think.

I thought finding GN clothes was difficult at first too, but it just turned out I was looking in the wrong places. At this point baby won't need any more clothes until 6-9 mos, and I've only bought GN at this point.

The hard thing to find has been tees. I don't want onesies, since we're CDing with wool, but tees are hard to find!

The clinic just called today to set up my appointment, but I missed the call. I'm going to schedule it for the last few days in April so that I'll be at or just over 20w. DH and I can't wait!!!

As per my insurance. . .I am hoping they cover it! You know how it goes, I keep calling, they keep saying things will be covered, but then who knows what extras they will not cover in the end. I called today to see if they had covered my 12 week first tri screen which is just a u/s and a blood test. They didn't know yet as they hadn't gotten the claim from the office. . .I had been told before that appt that they "usually" cover first tri screens. My insurance has no number limit for how many u/s, but rather it depends on how necessary they are deemed, and who is involved with interpreting results, and how much the place bills the insurance for everything.

So I got the procedure code for the 20 week u/s and gave it to my insurance and they said it will be completely covered. . .but of course, there are all these caveats, like if they send out the labs to someone else that might not be covered etc. (like the reading of the results you mentioned). Ahhhhh. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed that all this will be covered without problems. We will also have to file all our own papers to be reimbursed (80%) for the MW at the end of the pregnancy.

Its really madness. Glad I have good insurance, but still, its always a headache.
