So, I found out just over 2 weeks ago that we were expecting a girl, but I just cant seem to grasp it! Everytime we go to the store, I RUN to the firetrucks and blues, and I dont know, I just had such a strong feeling this was a boy, and was so taken off gaurd when the u/s tech told us girl!

So I thought some of you mama's might wanna compare u/s photos..... girl ones, and boy ones. I am soooo convinced, that its still very possible it was a bad view, and beanie baby was hiding "boy parts"

here's mine..... i still think the "hot dog bun" can be testes, no?!?!?

http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m...6/scan0003.jpg

Well, I would have to go with the ultrasond tech and say it's a girl. Not that I am an expert here, but just having viewed my DD's ultrasound in person and confirming that the new little one is a boy, I would definitely call what you see a "Hamburger in bun" vs the "hot dog in bun" I saw the other day!!!

Having given birth myself to three daughters (no sons) I send my wholehearted congratulations to you! You are going to love having a daughter. I guess my joy is best be summed up by a card my daughter gave me when she was about 17 years old...

"Daughters are little girls that grow up to be your friends"

I love that card! I love my daughters!

It looks a lot like my dd's u/s picture! I don't have a scanner, so I am unable to post it...but I do agree with pp that this looks like a girl.

We were told that this time we are having a boy. The images we saw with this baby were quite different from my dd's u/s pics. All I can really describe isa large ball sticking out between the legs (where hardly any part of the ball touches a leg)...I hope that makes sense...

If it indeed is a girl, having had a daughter first, I can honestly say, I love having a daughter first!

Looks like a girl to me too. Here's DS picture at 18 weeks. It was pretty obvious and I don't think he could have hidden it. Boy parts are to the right of the word not the other long thing...whatever that is.

http://s181.photobucket.com/albums/x...rrent=fd43.jpg

My DS gave us that view... kind of like sitting him on a glass top table. His penis just stuck right out. While I don't disagree that it could be testes, I'm inclined to think they'd be the last thing to poke through at this gestational age.

Getting used to the idea of a girl myself too!

You can still get her fire trucks and stuff. Maybe you're pulled to those things because she is going to like trucks and stuff traditionally designated as "boy" stuff. Not meaning this in a snarky way at all. I've learned a lot since having 2 daughters. They are both very much into dinosaurs, back hoes, fire trucks, etc. and just a tiny bit into baby dolls and they don't like pink or ever want to play princess stuff even when they see other girls doing that.

Looks just like my u/s with my daughter! When we found out we were having a boy with #2 it was *very* obviously different than dd's ultrasound. Girls can wear blue too, or maybe just buy neutral stuff if you aren't feeling into the girly stuff.

Keep a few boyish things on hand JIC. Girl ultrasounds are usually less concrete than boy u/ses (or such is my understanding) and a lady on another board I go to just had a baby boy very unexpectedly.

Looks like a girl to me! I"ve had 2 and that looks just like my girls! As for boys they didn't look anything at all like the girls. Picture a little A sticking out in between the legs. I'd say decorate the nursery pink and buy some girly dresses!

I had the opposite thing happen to me, but I was SURE we were having a girl and they were telling me it was a boy.

I had two ultrasounds to confirm it and I was STILL surprised when I gave birth and they announced, "It's a boy!"

I got used to it after he was here, though.

Good luck, mama! You could be right... but sometimes that maternal instinct is silly, I guess. I did have ONE dream about the sex of my baby while pregnant with him and in it, he was a boy. So I think my body knew, even if my mind didn't.

Thanks everyone......

I know I could still get firetrucks and all..... but I really just dont get it. When I was a kid, I LOVED baby dolls, and pink, frilly dresses. It just seems odd to me. My sister is having her second son, and when I told my family what we were having, they were over the rooftops glad. In fact, my grandmother took me shopping 10 minutes after we announced it (we live 6 hours away), and my dad literally danced!

I think part of me feels bad because my sister really wanted a daughter two times around, and I kind of get that she's jealous, and that makes me feel horrible.

DH and I are really excited too, I just cant seem to grasp it! DH loves it, and already bought a shirt "daddy is my hero" and a sleeper "daddy's little girl"

I guess your assurance is making me feel better, I just really dont know why I cant get it. Like I said, I know girls can wear blue, and play with firetrucks, and all, I just REALLY cant believe that we're having a girl.

I always pictured myself running around the store chasing 6 boys or something. I dont know! : Again, thanks ladies! You all really are the best!

I had that same instinct, and had guessed all my friends' babies correctly, so when I guessed mine wrong I was stunned! (And kind of insulted!) I had been having dream after dream about my little girl and even had been calling her "she", but the u/s was unmistakeable. It did NOT look like yours! They can be wrong though. We shall see!

Still, ever since finding out it's a boy DH and I can't stop smiling. Turns out I really didn't care either way... and instincts can be "off". Just another way of reminding myself that I'm not God!

Enjoy your girl, guilt-free! (Too bad for your sister, but try not to let it diminish your excitement.)
