I had my first appointment last week with my OB (because of insurance reasons I wasn't able to get in sooner). It was also the first time ever seeing this OB. Anyways, the exam was fast, thankfully, but I told him that I was concerned because I am barely showing and with my other two pregnancies I was HUGE at this point. He didn't seem concerned and quickly felt my belly and told me I was measuring right at 19 weeks. He didn't even listen to the heart beat!!!! Now I have a sonogram thursday, so I know they will be able to give me more info then, but.... I don't know, something feels, off!

I guess what I was wondering is if anyone else felt they were way too small, and if so was everything ok? No one seems concerned except me. I definatly feel the babe moving (I think he/she is doing flips as I type), and I am considerably lighter prepregnancy this time also. I sure hope I'm just being a worry wart over nothing!

Thanks!

I didn't really even start showing until after 5 months this time around. Then I just popped! I still look smaller than my 26 1/2 weeks but I am assuming that this Babe is just nestled in deeper. Your OB might have totally forgotten to listen for the heartbeat. Don't feel bad about reminding your doc to check something. You are paying them! Try not to worry about your baby. I am sure that you will breathe easier once your have your sonogram on Thursday.

I'll be 20 weeks Friday and still barely look like I'm pregnant. My MW think it's because I've always had low belly fat and that the baby is probably just nestled deep. I had my sonogram and everything went fine. I can't even fit into maternity pants, unless they're stretchy, so now worries, you'll pop in no time.

If you lost weight prepregnancy that could be it, smaller sometimes doesn't show soon. But it could also be that you are carrying this babe differently - perhaps higher and more to the back. It sounds like you are measuring right - fundal height is a pretty good indicator of baby size.

I think though that it was inconsiderate of your doctor not to listen to the heartbeat when you were clearly concerned. Is there another ob in your practice you could speak to? I know you said you have an u/s coming up and hopefully that will ease your worries. I'd say just strive to eat well and don't stress too much. My thoughts are with you mama!
