At work the other day, I was 8 1/2 weeks along, I was screwing around at work and used the FHT thingy. I placed it really low by the top of my pubic hair and after searching a minute it found a "heartbeat". It was ranging from 192 to 204. It picked it up really clear but the rate seems strange. Are fetuses heartbeats that fast when they are really small? I had an early ultrasound once before to confirm my PG around 6 or 7 weeks (not this pregnancy, another one) and the heartbeat wasn't that fast, like 160 or something. I can't think of what else the machine would be picking up in that area of my body pulsing so fast. Anyone have any ideas? DO you think it could have been the baby? What does it mean if it was going that fast? Please don't say twins LOL!

That heartbeat isn't too fast. It can vary alot. At my first visit at 8 wks the doctor was able to hear the heartrate, but only for a moment so he couldn't say what the bpm was. <img alt="" class="inlineimg" src="http://www.mothering.com/discussions/images/smilies/smile.gif" style="border:0px solid;" title="smile">
