I read a few "threads" ago about toddlers up to 18 months that don't really eat.

My dd is 22 months old and she also really just doesn't eat that much.

Today, for instance, she had half a peach in the morning, half a natural and healthy granola bar as an extended breakfast, a handfull of potato slices (saute'd in olive oil) for lunch, 3 bites of yogurt and one bite of tuna fish for supper. She had two small slices of melon about an hour before supper. She won't touch any vegetables - ever! And she must have had about 5 gallons of breat milk :LOL

IS THIS NORMAL?????

She's healthy, has plenty of energy, she's growing, but she won't eat! If I give her ice cream? whoa - she'll eat a pint by herself. Even when friends give her junk food (like a handfull of potato chips
: ) she'll have a bit and then won't be interested anymore.

I know that she's growing, but she's small compared to other children her age. The last time we were at our ped. was almost a year ago. We just haven't had any reason to go. and I feel silly asking him what to do: "my dd only nurses and doesn't eat food, etc." because I *know* he'll tell me: "so stop nursing her!"

What do you think, wise mamas? What would you do?

Well, first of all, I know a lot of toddlers and preschoolers who eat that much and they aren't getting any breastmilk!:LOL

It sounds like your dd is healthy and active. You say she's small compared to other kids. Are you and/or dh small people at all? You could always take her in to get weighed and measured and her iron tested if it'll make you feel better. I guess you could either see a different doc or just don't mention that she's nursing if you think he'll tell you to wean.

I just wanted to let you know my 19 month old ds is the same way! So far today he has eaten a waffle and a few bites of English muffin. Yesterday he ate, a waffle, half a banana, a ton of popcorn, 2 potato chips (we were at a b-day party) and some pretzels. He won't eat any veggies either, just fruit and carbs. Well, and a ton of breastmilk too! I have just assumed he'll eventually get serious about other food, I offer him a lot of stuff but I'm probably slacking on that because he always says "no". Sorry no advice but at least we both know we are not alone!

Thanks! Actually, when she was sick last year we had some blood taken and I asked them to check out her iron too. It was 100% (that's after lying
to the ped about using iron supplements).

My dh is definitely not small, but she's looks exactly like me (seriously - it's the closest you can get to cloning), and there are a few "smaller" ones on my side. so, I guess it's normal.

I'm still curious if anyone has been past this situation and is beyond it already. My older dd is now 4 and a half but I can't remember what happened with her. She eats great now - when she's hungry, but I don't remember when she started.
