I was absolutely shocked.
I brought me the box and wanted me to open it, and I did because I figured he was going to put them in and out of the box (fun 2-year old activity, right?) But no, he took one out, struck it, and lit it!!! I screeched and blew it out, of course, but it really shook both of us up. He cried, and we had a long nursing session.

I just didn't realize that was something he could possibly do...I mean, the kid doesn't even walk up or down stairs without me holding his hand...

On the bright side, it sounds like he has great fine motor skills - I still have a hard time lighting matches on occassion!

At least he did it while you were standing right there! He could've done it when you were changing a laundry load or something.

I would have never guessed that a child at that age could light a match! Thanks for sharing.

Henry did that too, a few months ago right at that age. I am usually very careful about keeping that kind of thing put way far away, but I left the box out by my candle in the bathroom. Thank goodness I was brushing my teeth right next to him...I just saw this bright flareup in his hands and it was shocking. Taught me a great lesson.
