Oh, I am just :

I am taking antibiotics for a breast infection that started with a plugged duct. I do feel much better overall (I can walk around a little, no more fever...) The one breast still hurts quite a lot and both breasts/nipples give me exquisite pain when my baby nurses (baby is 3 weeks old). Could it be the infection still or maybe thrush (I am taking acidophilus with the antibiotics)?

The other factor is that I also have a 3.5 yo nursling. He has had to take a little break, nursing only once or none some days. I have explained to him that he can nurse as much as he wants when the pain gets less. But, would having him nurse help or hurt me at this point? Of course, I would love to let him -- his behavior gets so much better when he can nurse!

I have little slits on both breasts where the nipple meets the areola. The pain there *does* improve with lanolin. But, it is the kind of pain where just my shirt touching my breast makes it very painful. Of course, I am not wearing a bra until my condition improves.

I also wonder if I may have a hormonal imbalance. At 3 weeks PP, I have lost almost NO WEIGHT, and am having reflux so bad that I have an esophogeal erosion (I am seeing a GI specialist tomorrow). What is really bizarre, is that I am normally *quite* fit, and I have a very healthy diet. I am even juicing cabbages to help with the reflux.

At least Baby is doing great -- he is very peaceful, sleeps well, and is gaining heartily. Thank goodness for that or I would be a total wreck.

I just feel this is all so crazy. This is only the third time I have *ever* had antibiotics (I take it quite seriously). I am totally drained. And the reason I am going the conventional route with medicine (I am very sad about that) is that I have been working with a homeopath for months on the reflux/throat pain and I am no better. I honestly don't know why homeopathy is not working for me -- I have studied it for years, and I strongly believe in it. But, the pain is really intolerable, and seemingly without end!

I am open to any advice, even homeopathy! I have also tried acupuncture for several months. I am starting to wonder if I am too depleted to heal myself.
