are there any other slim profile carseats besides the radian 80? how do you fit 3 carseats in a car if you don't have these? just curious. we have thoughts of downsizing to a car.

Most full-size sedans fit 3 car seats quite easily, some easier than certain SUVs. What cars are you looking at and what seats do you currently have?

we have a mini van now. we are more thinkin' than actually lookin' but it would be a four wheel drive car, suburuish.

The outback is very hard to get three across. I guess it has been done, but if you want a car that easily accomidates 3 I would recommend against that. I've heard the forrester is no better.

Yeah, Subarus are notoriously awful for getting 3-across in, and Radians don't install well in them

What ages of kids do you have? A pretty narrow booster if you have older kids is the Graco Turbobooster. I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and can easily fit a Britax Decathlong RF, a Graco CarGo FF, and a Graco Turbobooster back there. The CarGo is crappy as a booster, but as a regular FF seat it is pretty narrow, though it does not have as tall slots as a Radian, and only goes to 40 lb with the harness, plus it is FF only. So if you need a cheaper FF seat for a kid between 30-40 lb that is not too tall, it is pretty narrow and does the job.

If you want a 4wd/AWD vehicle, have you considered a Volvo? I have had great success getting 3-across in the wagons, and BIL's sporty little sedan was actually also quite roomy inside.
