Help!!

Our baby is three months old today and nursing was going wonderfully, until a few days ago. She was a very easy baby, but now all of a sudden makes little screams and seems more fussy in many ways. It is at its worst when she shows signs of being hungry and I try to nurse her. She starts to scream as soon as I put her in the nursing position. When I finally get her to latch on, she usually stops crying and eats. (Although sometimes she keeps popping off and makes little screams.)

She does seem to have her hands in her mouth a lot, so I wonder if she could be teething already. (I cannot see or feel anything in her mouth.) However, why would that make her upset especially when she is supposed to eat?

I feel so bad as nothing I do seems to help.

TIA!!

Yes, she could be teething already.

Try giving her a cold or frozen washcloth to suck on for a while before feeding, or a frozen teething ring. Some babies are soothed by bfing, but others feel pain when nursing. The coldness might help numb her out some.

There is a chance she might be in pain for another reason. Ear inflammation, allergy to a food you eat, thrush.
