1. starving all the time??? And yet sometimes I forget to eat...but mostly just starving, and I have at least 20 pounds to lose....how will this ever work?? Do you diet? Doesn't that affect your production?

2. And my engorgement is gone. She is nursing non stop, I wonder if its a growth spurt? Am I making enough milk? My breasts are very mushy. I can sqeeze some out. How do you know if they are getting enough? Especially with fussy gas issues?

3. I have some achy shooting pain after bf, of course they are tender from nursing non stop, is this normal?

Don't diet while nursing. Baby is, what, 2 weeks old? Give yourself a break. You'll drop the weight later, now is not the time to worry about that. 9 months on, 9 months off.

There's a 3 week growth spurt, and nursing non stop around the clock is totally normal at this stage in the game. Also, your supply is beginning to regulate, so you won't be engorged as often anymore. Totally normal, both her behavior and your body's.

Non-stop nursing can cause some discomfort of course. Is it nipple blanching, a sign of bad latch, or something more serious medically like Reynoud's, mastitis or thrush?

I was starving all the time...I still do get super hungry and my nursling is a year! If I don't get food then I turn into a monster and can't think straight. I don't know if that is all related strictly to nursing though. When we are out running errands and I get grouchy, dp says, okay...time to get some food, Mommy is getting cranky! So funny.

I remember the cluster feeds. Man, they are tough, but normal.

Bf non-stop can cause some pain. If it is unbearable call your dr/midwife.

As for the weight, Mama...DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT!!! Right now your number one concern is to nourish and care for you and baby. Eat well, drink lots of water, rest and cherish those beautiful bittersweet sleep deprived moments!

Some weight loss during BFing cannot be avoided. I believe your body puts it on while prego on purpose to store it for BFing. Our bodies are amazing. Don't stress about it- try to eat healthy (fill up on nutrient dense foods) and stay well hydrated and if you still lose weight, so be it. Congrats on your lo!

Oh geeze I remember that, for the first two weeks postpartum I had no interest in food, and then my body alluva sudden remembered that it was still feeding this kid. That hasn't gotten any better
The non-stop nursing did, and then my nipples did. Except when he gets a case of mr grabbyhands.

Yeah know, I'm at 11 months postpartum and the weight is not completely gone. It's not the end of the world. Dieting dumps toxins and I don't really want to do that to the baby. I did WW for a little while and my daughter was not happy with me. It really wasn't worth it. At this point I'm just worrying about getting in tons of fresh veggies but I eat what I want when I want. I'm going more for fat and happy.

Cluster feeds are normal. They will come and go as long as you are nursing.

I don't know about the pain though.
