i'm having trouble getting my 3 week old into our hotsling comfortably. (She weighs between 6 & 7 pounds.) I can get her in so her bottom is resting on the seam, with her legs crossed/squished ... but her face is completely covered by the top of the pouch. She hates it... really just wants to be on my shoulder instead.

Is there any way to get her head to a more 'open' spot so she can see out? Or is there a better position to try?

Thanks for any suggestions you can give.

Yep, the receiving blanket should work, you can also try shifting the sling so that the middle seam is a little closer to your shoulder, making her more upright. I am sure their cs people can walk you through it if that does not help. It is easier to walk through than to write through, if you know what I mean
