34w update

I've been very lazy so I haven't been posting lately. I had my babyshower on the 12th. I was actually a nice turnout despite the fact I only received a few things from my registry and everything else was tons of outfits. So I have to go buy a lot of stuff now. Don't have to worry about clothes for sometime...hehe....

Today I went to the doc for my 34w appointment. I'm measuring at 36w so he wants to do an ultrasound on my next two week appointment to get the estimated fetal weight--i hope this boy is not going to be huge. I can deal with an 8lb baby but 9-10lbs I think I'll cry...only joking... Does that mean if I continue to measure earlier then they'll change my due date? Other than that everything is looking good. I have to also get a Strep B test on my next appointment. Anyone had this done yet? I hope they don't have to insert the thingy like for a pap smear because its so uncomfortable.

Well guys we're getting to crunch time--I hope everyone is doing great! Can't wait to hear these birth stories
I wonder who's going to be next in line

[edit] As I was preparing to go to my doc appointment today I had some cramping that lasted for about 5 minutes. Haven't happened since then, I talked to my doc about it and he said its normal since I'm getting closer to my due date...so this is how contractions will feel huh? [/edit]

For the GBS test. You can decline it, tho' I don't know how a typical mainstream OB would react to that. Also, if you do it, you can perform it yourself. Or if you let the OB do it is is just a simple swab, not the pinchy pap brush & speculum.

Glad you had a good shower! And more shopping sounds like fun ...
To answer your other question, they will not change your due date based on fetal size at this stage in pregnancy. Measuring fetal length is not an accurate way of determining gestational age after 10 or 12 weeks! You can handle a 9-10lber by the way!

Do I detect a little bit of sarcasm?

just so ya know, ultra sounds can be VERY off as far as estimating fetal size. I've know ladues who were told they were having 10-11 pounders only to give birth to a baby of 8lbs 4oz!! 2 cm big is not that much...why does your ob care about 2 cm??? It could just be babies position! Ob's have a way of stressing mamas out for nothing! grrrrr.......sorry, It just bothers me that they would even blink twince at 2 cm!!!

And no worries on babies size......you can birth it regardless of size!!! Big babies are so cute too, all rolly and soft!!

: That is EXACTLY what I was thinking!! I think what I've heard is they're off by up to a pound either way typically.
