Any reason why I shouldn't go get my teeth cleaned at 37 weeks preggo? It just dawned on me that I've been paying $4 a pay check for dental ins that I've not used this year so I thought I'd go get my teeth cleaned just so it's not a total waste of $.

Anything I should know? Thanks!!

My FIL is a dentist and says that he strongly encourages all of his pregnant patients to continue w/ their routine checkups because of the aforementioned in the article.

On my next check up, I'll be 32 or 33 weeks. While it'll be uncomfortable going up an down in the chair to spit and do this and that, it's more than worth it!!

As far as I know, its fine. I got my teeth cleaned while pregnant. The only thing that I can think of would be if you have amalgams then cleaning those amalgam teeth would cause more release of mercury vapor while they are being cleaned. I'd avoid fluoride too.

I got my teeth cleaned while pregnant and was assured by everyone that it's safe to do so.
Personally I would not do it again as there might be an increased risk of infection and I am not aware of any longterm studies that confirm the safety of these cleaning applications.
