I doubt he's constipated unless his diet has drastically changed overnight. Just nurse him a lot and give him a sippy of water if he's interested, and put him on a tarp because it's quite possible he will do a massive poop anytime now. My daughter used to be a regular pooper but went 8 days when she was about 8-9 months old. It was AWFUL for me. She was fine. She didn't show any discomfort. But when she did go, holy hannah, she absolutely filled every cm of a diaper with poop and also deposited plenty on her dad's lap!

If you really want him to poop, don't try to stimulate him. Dress him in a pastel outfit and take him to the mall, without putting a diaper or extra outfit in the diaper bag. No really, he will go and probably be just fine. Some babies go a week or more from time to time. If he seems in pain you can try to help him along a bit by massage and bicycling legs, but he's probably just fine.

I wouldn't worry until 14 days of no poop. I mean, yeah, I'd be concerned, but I wouldn't seek out medical care or be SERIOUSLY worried before that point.

EBFing as in no solids at all? If so, nothing to worry about. My DS went 8 days one time, and the "record" for the ped's office is 15 days!

my oldest went two weeks once, and was not uncomfortable at all. I was kind of uncomfortable when it all came out

My DD went without for 4 days too, but when she finally did it was in three parts, one diaper change after another. I know what you mean about the soap in the butt, my mom did that with all of us, too.

I agree. It is totally normal for an EBF baby to go up to 14 days without bming. In my moms group which is faciliated by a public health nurse, we actually talked about this last week. She said (according to breastfeeding specialist Dr. Jack Newman) that even longer than 2 weeks can be normal. My DD often goes 4 days with no poop... just lots of nasty smelling farts!

Yep, we usually say in an EBF babe that 10x in a day to every 10 days is normal. As long as your ds doesn't appear to be in any discomfort there's nothing to worry about at this point.

Dd's longest stretch was about 10 days. No issues, no problems when the BM did finally arrive. As long as your baby is happy and acting normal, I wouldn't do anything whatsoever to hurry the poop along.
