This family wanted to take their 4 month old baby on a trip to Disneyland a month after the initial exposure happened when Disneyland should have been safer. Apparently since measles is still in the area, he ended up catching the disease anyway, and also exposed others during the time that he was contagious but asymptomatic. It was a scary time for the family, but it looks like he is making a great recovery.

There are very few diseases as contagious as measles, so in the absence of a measles outbreak there's really no reason to have to keep a 4 month old baby away from public spaces. It's too bad that this trip could have been safe, and should have been safe for a 4 month old, but instead this is how it turned out.

I saw that the other day. How scary for that family. And SSPE is a lot more prevalent in children who develop measles before the age of 1.

This facebook post from a mother (whose child was too young for the MMR vaccine) and got exposed to measles is a lot more angry/scathing. It has been shared almost 300,000 times on facebook.
