DS is my first and this is his first cold. We are also very new to natural parenting/healing and such. He has been coughing and sneezing for two days,this morning his nose started to run and he is a little congested. I can just tell that he doesn't feel good,isn't himself. What can I do to help him?

I am only breastfeeding right now and he has not been vaccinated.

You're doing everything right! Just keep breastfeeding. If he gets really uncomfortable, take him in the bathroom with the door closed and run the shower hot. The steam will clear his sinuses. Just let him sleep, carry him a lot. He'll get better. The cold just has to run its course. And just think about how this is strengthening his immune system.

You are doing a great job already! Breastfeed him as much as he wants, your milk has all sorts of good stuff for him!
You can also put a drop of Eucolyptus oil in his bath, or massage it in with a carrier oil (coconut is great) on his chest to help him breathe.
There are also Hylands Homeopathic remedies that work wonderfully.

Another thing you can do if he's having trouble breathing is squirt some breastmilk up his nose... I know this sounds weird, but it's much more gentle than saline and will clear his nose without stinging. He won't LIKE it, but it won't distress him as much as some other methods. Try the shower first though

get a warm mist vaporizer & put it close to where he sleeps at night(a few feet). this helped my ds sooo much. usually the stuffiness happens because of the dryness of the heat.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Is there anything I can take myself that might help thru my breastmilk?

just make sure you are eating lots of super healthy foods!
