i just got my period at 7 1/2 weeks postpartum. i'm bf and supplement with formula sometimes. i was told that as long as you bf you wont get a period. did i get mine b/c i supplement once in a while?

Even women who EBF sometimes get their periods back soon after birth.

But supplementing even a bit could have brought on AF sooner than if you had not. It's hard to say.

I've exclusively BF since she was born but I still got mine back at 7 weeks.

Women can get their period back anytime, although it is more likely to stay away if certain breastfeeding behaviors are going on (frequent nursing, nursing at night, not giving artificial nipples and not giving supplements.)

There's a book called Breastfeeding and Natural Child Spacing IIRC that discusses this. (And it is about a lot more than the title, really a very interesting book!)
