7.5 months old LOVES solids- anyone else?

I'm curious if anyone else has a foodie for a baby! It seems like all I read here are stories of babies eating a teaspoon or two of food and spitting most of it out. G started eating solids early (his birthmom's choice, not really mine) and has liked everything except avocado. He usually eats two small jars of food a day and is very interested in it. Some foods he makes mmmmm sounds throughout, he always opens his mouth for more and not in response to the spoon- he lets me know when he wants more. He plays with his food, practices with a spoon, and adores his sippy cups of water.

Anyone else have a foodie?!

I have a FOODIE too! He doesn't make mmm sounds, but he opens up wide to indicate that he would like another bite. We started early too, because I felt my ds was ready, and he sure was! He likes all foods except for any fruit that is a bit tart.....He loves water in a cup more than anything!

I'm really nervous about doing finger foods. I gave him Os cereal once and he swallowed one whole...it just scares the world out of me!

Is G doing finger foods yet?
i have a foodie! he eats anything. he started solids early to help with his reflux and since then has been on a roll. his favorite food right now is mac and cheese and string cheese. anything where he can feed himself at that age was wonderful (he's 10mths now) he only has 2 teeth but he sure can go to town. he prefered crispix over cheerios though and loves to crunch them.
DS is a total foodie. I had planned to delay solids, but he let me know loud and clear that he was ready at about 5.5mo. I managed to hold him off until 6mo but it was a real challenge. He's still eating mostly fruit, and some wheat/dairy/soy-free teething biscuits, which he LOVES. I try to do fresh fruit as much as possible. I dice it up small and he goes to town in his highchair. Sometimes I give him a couple of spoonfuls of applesauce and just let him make a mess of himself. Though I try to limit how much he gets, he really loves the jarred baby food and actually says "more" (it was his second word) or screeches for each bite. Like a PP said, it's not just the spoon, he wants FOOD on that spoon, and he wants to feed himself. It gets rather messy.

I'm so happy to know G's not the only one

No, G doesn't like lumpy foods yet so I don't think finger foods will go over good. The other day, I added 'real' banana to his oatmeal and every little chunk came back out. That's actually why I went to the jarred foods; I couldn't mush it up fine enough for him.

DD's this way too. She LOVES food and always wants what we have. She'll eat absolutely anything and has never spit a single thing back out, either! In fact this is making it hard when we go to restaurants - she gets so excited about the food, and she's so impatient to eat, she basically screams for more (like tsfairy's DS). I myself think it's adorable but I'm pretty sure the other diners don't feel the same way, know what I mean? So now we go to places where being loud at meals is okay.

The way she chews is cute, too. I love my little foodie!
I finally gave up on mushy baby food and started giving DD finger food and now she loves to eat! So far she's had string beans, carrots (both steamed until very soft), tofu, Oatios, Veggie Booty (her favorite), banana, egg yolks, pizza crust (to gum on), and teething rusks. Not to big on mushy stuff like squash- too squishy to get from the table to her mouth. As long as she can feed herself she's happy. Put something on a spoon and try to feed her and she clamps her mouth shut!!
My DD loves food, just as long as it's not baby food!

We had no success whatsoever with rice cereal, mashed banana, pureed avodaco, and the like. As soon as I gave her finger foods (soft veggies, pieces of bread, pieces of bananas etc.) she went to town. Now I can't eat in front of her without having to share my food!!

This makes me feel better about some of the stff DD (7 months) has managed to eat: all the basic fruits and veggies plus organic teething cookies, a pickle (!), a hushpuppy (to suck on), heels of crusty brown bread (only if I'm watching to make sure she doesnt bite off more than she can chew with two half-teeth), and some tomato pasta sauce, I had to put her down yesterday because she was after my sandwhich and crying when I wouldn't let her have any!

I'm try to keep a very short list of things not to give her as DH wants to hand her any old thing. Right now we're skipping nuts, dairy, soy (just till next month), fish, citrus and berries... anything else a real no-no?

I just hope she stays a foodie!
