DD is now 7.5 months. I have always felt a bit awkward NIP because I have a very heavy let down. I wear nursing pads, but it seems so awkward to remove the pads every time I nurse. We stopped to nurse at a restaurant in the mall recently and when the server came to bring us menus, DD tried to turn around to see what was going on. Well, my milk was just about to let down and WHOOSH...milk squirting out onto the menu on the table. I was not embarrassed to be NIP, but that the poor high school kid had to witness my heavy letdown.

Anyone else have a similar issue? If you've dealt with something like this in the past, how long until it eases up? I'm hoping that I'll EVENTUALLY be able to go without pads, but when????

I can't tell you when it will stop, but I can definitely empathize with you. I have an 8 month old and and very powerful let-down and leaked constantly until 7 months. I thought I was done with all that until his sleeping patterns changed last week (gave up the 1:30a feed) and now I am waking up soaked again.....YUCK! Guess it is back to wearing a bra and pads at night. :

It was about a year and a half for me-- I like the thickly padded nursing bras from motherhood & maternity.

Why do you have to remove the pads? I just fold the bra down with the pad still attached and nurse. Then, I put it back up. I am going on 7 mos and still leak a bit.

I thought I stopped a while back, but they just took a break. The only time I really like now is on one breast when I'm feeding on the other.
