My poor poor baby,

He is so sick. And the little guy, sick as he is, continues to be in good spirits! Smiling at me, 'talking' to me...such a sweetheart. It's breaking my heart though. I'm pumping vitamins, (C, garlic, and echenicia (sp) ), I'm eating lots of soups...(I've got a bad cold too real sore throat). Is there anything else I can do for him?
I've been giving him nice warm baths, and just holding him and offering my breast constantly....
Any advice would be great. But please send your healing energy to him!
TIA,

Believe it or not, but cool, night air is GREAT for the croup. Bundle him up nice and cozy and go for a mid-evening stroll. My good friend's DD had the croup and she had to walk 2 blocks to the hospital (car in the shop). By the time she got there, DD was breathing fine

I hope your little one (and you Mama!) are feeling loads better soon. It's so hard to see your babe suffer

Whenever I had the croup when I was little (I always seemed to wake up with it in the middle of the night), I'd go to my parents' bed. They would bring me into the bathroom and start the shower on HOT and close the door. The steam worked wonders.

I still try this trick when I am having trouble breathing due to a bad cough. . . the hot steam feels so good.

I hope your tiny one feels better soon (and you too!)!

Steam helps to open up the airways but you might want to consider getting some homeopathics..I'm not treating here but I would recommend Spongia if its a barking cough or Aconite if you can catch it in the early stages. There are tons of great homeopathic books out there, totally safe for infants and kids

Good luck

I second the cold night air suggestion. when ds was about the same age, 9 wks, he had croup and that really helped, plus steaming.

I know what you mean, it is very touching how they try so hard even while feeling so sick, still smile and go on with their great baby ways

Well, dd (4yrs) had the croup last weekend. We went for walks outdoors and now she just has a bad cough. Ds, seems well, and I think, oh he's better. But then he wakes up gagging and choking. His eyes are red, and his nose is really mucousey...(sp?)
He had a fever two days ago, I applied cabbage leaf to his forehead, and kept him at room temp (clothing). His fever has come down quite a bit....

Thank you all so much for your replies...this is the first chance back at MDC since I posted....poor little guy.

I am sending your family stay healthy vibes. Glad you are feeling better!
