When I arrived at my DCP this morning, they told me that yesterday my DD had started to hit other babies. DD is very animated to begin with, and often flails her arms in joy. Now she is happily whacking others, laughing and cooing while she does it. Sometimes she does this to my face when I am holding her, and I try to redirect her hands and firmly say "no" - even though I don't know if she understands it at this age. The DCP said that it is nothing to worry about and that it is common, and that they would redirect this behavior. Should I be concerned about DD's hitting? It seems we're surrounded with messages and studies regarding aggressive behaviors and I'm sort of worried that DD might evolve into a bully. We have practiced our own modified version of AP and DD is an extremely loving, verbal and expressive child (at least from my viewpoint). I know I should chill out but this is important to me.

Any thoughts on this via your own experiences?

I wouldn't worry about it. She really doesn't know she is doing anything wrong or even realize she is hitting. She is just exploring the world around her!
