IS SO HOT IN MY APARTMENT!!

We just had central AC put in a month ago, but it doesn't seem to be working. The temp in the apt is 80-84 every afternoon and it takes FOREVER to cool down (at 4 in the morning it is still 74). We've called the AC guys out twice and they say it's 'cause we don't have our curtains up yet and because we have leaks around our doors and no insulation in the attic. But I don't know anyone with AC who has this problem where it doesn't cool. They keep insisting that this is the prob and not the AC or the blower. I think it may be the blower, though, because the unit in my dad's apt (right below ours in the duplex) blows the air much harder.

anyway, has anybody down south here had a similar experience?

:

Ahhh, tug! I'm sorry you're having problems with c/a. I don't know much about that but it does sound like something is not quite right. I believe you may be onto something with the idea of the blower not working sufficiently. Only problem I've ever had in that dept. was the damn thing kept freezing up!

I'd call them back.

We have two new window units here which I've never had to experiment with before. If they go out, I swear I'll burst into flames! Or maybe explode when I get the energy bill.

Good luck!

Thanks for the support. I'm meeting with the AC guy this afternoon. Yesterday afternoon, the stupid thermostat reset itself for 90 (so i guess it thought it was doing great 'cause the apt was only 85!). Grr. I plan to be very firm...

Hope your ACs are working well. We still have 2 in our garage that we may have to drag back out at this rate!!!

I'm in central AR right now, and oh my gosh....the heat and humidity.... yuck yuck yuck.

Do you have a landlord that can come address some of the insulation and sealing issues? If you are renting, it may well be the responsibility of the apartment complex or landlord, and it can only help, right?

Hope it's fixed soon.

Yup, it kinda sucks to be in the south in summer

Thanks for the suggestions EmmalinesMom. Unfortunately (?), we own so it would be up to us to insulate which, right now, is sort of a "Yeah, that would be a great idea if we had any money left from the other stuff..."

On the bright side, the AC guy has admitted that there is something definitely wrong with our unit...he just doesn't know what. well, at least, though, if they've admitted it's the unit and not our heads or our house, then they are accepting responsibility to make it right...at some point!!

Stay cool everybody!
