Hoping you guys can help me out... I need to tweak my stash as some dipes are getting to old (not fitting right, and have holes in them..etc). I also run out of clean covers before I run out out of clean dipes. It seems the diapers arn't gusseted (sp?).. just flat, so poop, even if it isn't runny poop, gets on the covers, and in the pail it goes. We can go through 2-3 poop covers in a day! So I thought I would get more covers... then I thought I might as well replace some dipes! So I have been looking at wonderoos, or Sandy's with a Riki cover. Any thoughts on these? I currently have 2 sos, some unknown brands, and lots of SP. SP seem to fit the best, he is a skinny boy with a high rise. Any thoughts would be greet. Oh, one question for you wool users, tried it a few times, but had the same problem as above.. poop getting on covers, then had to wash and wait for it to dry, and never having enough for the day. How do you do that? Just a really good diaper so nothign leaks? Lot's of covers? what?

Hi, Cay, how old is your DS? With the frequent poops and the leaking of it, I'll assume he's a lil one.

I usually find that 6 covers (non-wool) are pleanty. I mainly use PFs at home and then some AIOs for going out or impressing sposie users. Are your covers holdng the poo off his clothes? The first thing I thought of while reading your post is that maybe he doesn't have a good fit. Covers and dipes too fit each child differently. I do like PFs because it's pretty much one size fits all... or at least most!

Best wishes. Hope I answered some of your questions.

Thanks for the reply! I forgot to mention that he is 2 1/2 years old! So not little, but I think sometimes I catch him in mid poop, I'll change him, then about 15 min later he finishes? Lol. Right now I am using proraps, and bummie (snap) I like the snap because they don't stick to everything, but the velcro definitly fits better, and dh likes it better. I use FB's for my nighttime diaper stuffed with one PF and doubler. That works for now. And yes I find the poop is getting on the inside of his pants, so I am runing out of those as fast as my covers! I guess I need to figure out if it's the diapers fault or the covers?

Is the poop leaking out the legs or the back? I'm part curious b/c we just don't ever have poop leaking. I have a large variety of fitted diapers and also use a lot of PFs and no leaks.

Since the right diaper would keep you from going through so many covers and clothes, it seems like that is where we should focus our energy.

You might want to try some of the more adjustable diapers, like Muttaqins. I'm not familiar with Sandys (in terms of using them) or Riki wraps. I did really like bummis and proraps when C was a nb, and have a bummis that fits him now that I someone use too when I need ultimate assurance that he won't leak. (normally he's at home and most of the time at home he's coverless, and generally we use wool when we do want a cover)

Lots of Mamas prefer side-snap if the baby's body isn't basically square enough b/c w/ side snap the waist and thighs can have different adjustments. I personally love front snaps, but have a variety of side snaps too.

Absorbitals (side snapping) have nice elastic at the legs and the back of the diaper. They are also soft and lovely, although not the most absorbant.

Skinny w/ high rise makes me wonder if you need diapers w/ cross-over snaps (if you go the front snap route). But it definitely seems like the diaper just isn't snug enough.

Good luck (sorry for rambling, not much sleep )

What kind of prefolds are you using? How are you folding them? Premium or Toddler size prefolds with the jellyroll fold should keep poop in pretty well. You may want to measure your sons rise before trying onesize diapers such as Wonderoos, just to be sure the rise is long enough on those. If you are liking FB for nighttime, you could also get more of those for daytime. I find they fit my lean girl, with a long rise the best.

Wanted to give my 2cents about Sandys....I really like them! Like another poster said, you can adjust the waist and the legs separately for a really good fit.

HTH a bit!
