Ok so I am looking for a good yoga dvd to use while pregnant. I really want to take some classes but I am not sure how possible that will be with money kinda tight and my work schedule. So I'd love to know what dvd's you all like!

I have done yoga before but it's been a really long time. So something that really shows the poses in detail and then does a workout sequence I think would be good.

I absolutely cannot rave enough about the Divine Mother Prenatal Yoga series with Anne Getty. I have loaned this one out to preggo friends and everyone has loved it. (Speaking of, how can I get that dvd back without letting slip that I'm pregnant). Don't let the cover turn you off, because the yoga routine itself is great.

Once I started doing this my headaches went away. It also helped with leg cramps and backaches and all the wondrous other preggo pains.

I got it at amazon (5 stars), but I don't think they still sell it. Maybe you'll be able to find it somewhere else. It looks like some Amazon sellers still have it.

hi there!

I had a yoga dvd called Prenatal Yoga by Shiva Rea. I think that's the one! I loaned it to my SIL and haven't gotten it back because she doesn't know I'm preggo again!

Also, in addition to the dvd (actually, more often than the dvd) I used the Prenatal Yoga Deck (Olivia ******, pink & purple box) which is a deck of cards with different poses on each one. I would go through and pick out the ones that would address my "complaints" and do those in the evenings before bed. Very relaxing. Also, I had a great book - well, kinda goofy old pictures, but good how-tos on the poses and references for which ones to do in which trimesters... it was called Yoga for Pregnancy by Sandra Jordan. I used the deck and the book more often than the DVD, I guess because it was easier for me to squeeze in whenever, and because I could so easily tailor it to what I needed.

I second the Crunch DVD from Amazon with Sue Elkind. She teaches in the Anusara style - which is what I practice and teach in as well. It's a very safe, alignment based yoga that emphasizes life-affirming themes throughout. She's well known in our yoga community as an amazing prenatal teacher and literally wrote the book on Anusara prenatal yoga. I just ordered the DVD myself - can't wait to try it!

If you need the basics I really like "Basic Yoga Workout for Dummies" http://www.amazon.com/Basic-Yoga-Workout-Dummies-Ivanhoe/dp/B00005LQ08

Thanks for letting us know it's on netflix, I am about to start it now. I had the Shiva Rea DVD for the first three pgs, but never really liked it. I am not sure why... Probably my own lack of motivation. Looking forward being able to stream this one.

Thanks everybody! I saw the Divine Mother one on amazon a while back, when you first posted it. Here it is. Good reviews, looked good. I also liked his one, from the reviews. Element And I liked that it had a pre- and postnatal workout. So I am not sure which one I will get. maybe I will get both, lol! Shiva rea, I will have to look at that one. And thanks for the crunch mama dvd link!! Now I have too many choices :) hehe.

Thanks for the netflix tip too, that' s perfect!

Last time I was bored with the shiva rea DVD until the third trimester when it was perfect and then I loved it. I tried a bunch of others from the library and never really liked any of them.

Have you checked out http://www.myyogaonline.com ? I'm a member (it's $9.95/month i think??) and I like it b'c there's a big variety of videos, all levels, styles, lengths, teachers, etc. I just did a search on the page and found a few prenatal videos, but, I'm totally ddc crashing so I haven't done the classes! I just saw your post in the main "new threads" and thought to mention it. They also have a nicely organized "poses/asanas" section that shows and explains the poses. And videos about nutrition, salts, and some other yogic living info.

DDCC The only one I ended up liking and working in the 3rd trimester was Element Prenatal & Postnatal Yoga. It was a good dvd. Honestly I'm fairly sure it's what got my baby to turn from transverse, too!
