A Happy Little CDing Baby Shower Story

A follow up for those of you who gave me good ideas for a CDing mama's baby shower gift:

Good friends of ours are expecting their second child (a girl), and they CD'd their son (mostly) and she has lots of flat and contour diapers, but not much else.

This was a a traditional baby shower, with only women and no kids. I packed everything in a medium sized box and wrapped it up in purple paper. I tied a stuffed bear to the top who was dressed in a tie dye infant prefold (thanks, Shelly, the package arrived on saturday) snappi'd on.

I packed the covers on top: 2 new newborn (but big!) bumpy print covers, 6 newborn pro rap pink covers (secondhand, thanks, Spicey Momma), 4 small Bumkins covers (hand me downs from me), and one of Melaniee's newborn NZ soakers dyed red and pink (so cute!). She was amazed by the Happy Heinys (I had stuffed one with a spare hemp soaker I had) and she loved the perfectly tiny rainbow of Kissaluvs colors and Bitty Buns. She loved the softness of the velour/sherpa wipes (and hadn't used cloth wipes with her first) and thought the wet bag would be very useful. I had also included a mini shower and written on the package "poop sprayer for Chris" [dad], as he didn't want to use cloth because he has traumatic memories of being buried in poop up to his elbows in the toilet.

She passed everything around, and everyone tried to snappi the prefold on the bear (most succeeded!) and petted the bitty buns and kissaluvs and remarked on the softness and usefulness of the happy heinys. Only one other mama there was likely to have another baby, but she asked me if she could call me when she was pregnant because she wanted to use cloth.

My friend was just so appreciative and thanked me over and over. The best thing she said, "now we don't have to use disposable diapers at all!"

That's my story.

Why, yes I do, because I see you are in Brooklyn, and my DH is a NYC native and I totally adore visiting the city. So, an excuse to buy diapers and visit NYC is all I need . . . . bring it on!

That is so neat. It's great to be in a place where you can show the truth behind cloth diapers
Nothing like ridding the public of the misconceptions that are out there

What a wonderful friend you are - such an awesome shower gift! Do you mind if I steal the teddy bear in tie-dye dipe idea? A friend of mine has an upcoming baby shower and she's cd'ing. I'm buying dipes from her registry, but love the idea of the teddy on top of the box!

Not at all, as long as you pay me a licensing fee because I'm planning to patent this idea

wow, what an awesome friend you are...and congrats on another possible convert too!
AWESOME!!! I'd LOVE that!! I'm pregnant and would love to have a CD shower, but I don't think people around here would go for that--going online. If it's not at walmart....

If you don't mind me asking, was this a group gift or just from you?? I love the idea of a group pitching in for a nice CD gift--did that for a friend recently, and gave her a nice gift certificate to punkinbutt. She was so appreciative.

Anyway, just curious! Seems like you had tons of fun doing this for her!
