I was surfing around and thought this would be a super cool way to bring a baby into the world..Although it wouldnt be for me, I still think it would be neat especialy for those mammas who REALLY want a homebirth and can't pull it off because of space/family etc.

http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/birth.html#Hotel

I don't know, I thought the appeal of a hb was to not have to leave your house, to have the comforts of home, your own bed, etc. Of course, the first thing I see is the dollar signs associated with renting a hotel room. Yikes!

Then again, I deliver at a wonderful hospital where the rooms feel like hotel rooms and they have really good food that you just call and order, like room service.

The only thing that freaks me out is all those nasty germs that all over that place. I guess it is a option for someone though.

I did! With birth #3. It was in a brand new suite hotel...so we had an actual bedroom, kitchen, & in-room washer/dryer. Dh used to work for hotels so that made it easy. He just let them know we have small children so if they could put us in an emptier wing of the hotel, since we did not want to disturb anyone. <G>

In any case, I stripped the bed and made it twice with our own bedding, dh bleached the tub for after use, and I got the kiddos to sleep (then 2 and 4 yrs) on the pullout. By the time everything was set up and mw checked me I was at least 6-7cm (can't remember exactly atm). We had a lovely birth and went home in the morning! No one was any the wiser and I was told that it is very good luck to have a baby born in a hotel (for the hotel!). LOL

For us it was the best option, as that was when there were tons of SARS restrictions at the hospital and patients at the hospital where I would have to deliver...and I didn't have anyone to watch the kiddos anyhow...we were staying with family who would not be comfortable with a HB in their house, since we had just moved back into the country. The kids woke up a few hours after baby was born and still remember meeting her. It was a fun 'field trip' I guess you could say...LOL! But it sure is fun to drive by the hotel and say hey, that's where you were born!

In some interior areas of our province, I am told that there are entire wings of hotels set up for mw to use for this purpose...remote communities have their mamas come into town for the birth.
