Hello there.

I was wondering if anyone could answer a couple questions about the area around Totowa and Wayne, NJ. DH will be traveling there for work at the end of this month or the beginning of next and has never been to the area.

He is thinking he won't have time to do anything because when he gets done (probably around five) the sun will be down and everything will be closed, but I was sure he could find something to do.

We are not exactly small town, but I know he is nervous about spending time there alone without knowing the area so I wanted to ask if there is anywhere that he should just avoid completely or anything he should keep in mind?

And also if anyone could recommend a couple of places that he could check out that would be open at that time and would be interesting and fun to do even by yourself?

TIA for any help or info.

The Willowbrook Mall is in Wayne, on Rt.23. It is enormous and open until at least 9.30 each night.

http://www.willowbrook-mall.com/html/index13.asp

There is a golf place on Rt. 46 heading East before the mall. I don't know if he likes to play mini-golf, or use a driving range...?

Errr, I can't think what else someone could do in that area after dark that would not involve spending money or walking around a mall...

Wayne is chock-full of stores, as is Totowa, so he should have no trouble keeping himself occupied for a couple of hours each night. There are lots of restaurants too, if he needs to eat out on his own. My family from the UK like Jose Tejas which is on Rt. 46 West.

I hope that helps a little.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that there is a movie theater right behind the mall in case he wants to catch a film. There is also a Borders in the smaller mall right next to Willowbrook (I think it's called Willowbrook Center, or something like that). I used to love wasting time in Borders/Barnes and Noble when I was on business trips.

I think Willowbrook and Wayne Towne Center ("the little mall") are both open until 11 now that it's the holidays. They get crowded, but if he can stand that... There's a Pizzeria Uno's and Jose Tejas (Mexican place) very nearby, A Cheeseburger in Paradise (Jimmy Buffet chain, not sure if they are local) and I think an IHOP pretty close too. There's plenty of fast food in and around the mall if you're into that sort of thing.

I used to work in the building behind the theater. It's not a bad area, just lock the car - this time of year it's very crowded. OK to walk from mall to car or whatever, I just mean when he's leaving a car in a lot, lock it.

Hope he has a good trip!

Well, things got busy and I totally forgot i posted this, but I wanted to say thanks for responding. The restaurant info should come particularly in handy. It's good to know that the area is relatively safe. He thinks he'll be really bored, but I have a feeling it'll be more fun than he thinks it will.
Thanks again!
