My son will be four on November 2nd. I have always coslept and have always had trouble with him waking up when I get out of bed screaming insatiably until I go back to bed. *sigh*

My issue is that he is 3 years old and I am 26. He needs to go to bed way before I need to go to bed. He doesnt understand this. Every night we go through this excruciating seperation anxiety tantrum.

For the last six months, I have been starting him out in his bed. Telling him that mommy isn't tired yet, etc. Except for when I really AM tired.

I always allow him to come to bed with me when he wakes up in the middle of the night and I am in bed.

I really believed we would have worked through this by now but it never gets better. Every night is a battle.

Sorry sweetie ~ my daughter is 2 years and I usually just go to bed when the kids do. (At 9pm)

Have you tried sneaking out after he falls asleep? My daughter would throw a fit in the mornings when she woke up and I wasn't there (had already gotten up) but it only took a few (maybe a bit more than that
) times before she got used to it and would just wander out and look for me rather than have a meltdown screaming my name.

Big Hugs Hon!
