Hi!! I'm newer around these parts, as we're just beginning the ttc #2 quest. But, I do have experience w/OPKs from #1. And, in my opinion, they aren't worth the $$. I know, I know, a lot of people swear by them. But, I was undergoing infertility treatments for nine months before becoming pregnant with my dd. In all that time, through 6 cycles of clomid, COUNTLESS ultrasounds, 3 ovulations, I never got a + test. IN FACT, the cycle I conceived dd, I never got a + test, and in fact, got a - test the day before & day of ovulation!!! I KNOW exactly when I O'd because of ultrasounds & temping, but I cringe of all the money I threw away buying OPK, and I thank goodness I wasn't relying on them (the secretary at my RE's office told me to retest the next day since I got a - test, and I demanded an appt for an U/S & I was right & had a follicle the size of a basketball ready to blow :LOL That little follicle is now my sweet dd!!!)
I have tried the cheap internet ones, and they did not work at all for me. I have never gotten a positive on them. Most of the time, I would just get the control line, and the test line just would not show up. When I was close to ovulation, there would be a tiny, extremely faint test line, which I then took as a pos, since there never was anymore than that. Some cycles I did not even get that, even although I did ovulate.
My last cycle, I was so sick of the cheap tests, that I splurged and bought the Answer tests at Walmart. I think i paid $15 for a 5 pack and it came with a free pg test. Way more expensive than the internet ones, but they also performed much much better. I would always get a test line, and I got a nice and dark pos line around the time when I ovulated.
They were the cheapest tests I could find at Walmart, the other brands all were even more expensive.
Hope that helps!
